Sunday Open Thread: The season of disinformation and dissent is upon us

It is that time of year when we know everything... We think, about what the Arizona Cardinals will do.

With the 2018 NFL Combine, free agency and the draft all within the next two months, the last few days of slow and no news is upon us.

That means only a couple more days until we can start arguing over what it means that the Arizona Cardinals met with Josh Allen but didn’t meet with Kyle Lauletta at the NFL Combine.

They talked to Calvin Ridley but not Christian Kirk.

Then we get free agency, where we’ll hear about them bringing in free agent X and making him an offer, then that free agent going elsewhere and what was the offer? Was it good enough? Did they think they could get him on the cheap? Then the numbers come out from the team he signs with and we disagree on whether or not it was the right move to not spend that kind of money on player X.

Then the draft. The Cardinals like this player and that player. They don’t like this player enough to move up, but they like this player enough to later.

It’s all just part of the never ending cycle of information that we now have access to, buy get roughly 2% of the story.

That’s why, at this time of year, it’s always important to:

  1. Not get worked up over any report. Even insiders only have a piece of the story.
  2. Believe everything and nothing. No one knows until it actually happens.
  3. In the end, it’s part of being a fanatic.

Remember, being a fan isn’t about getting what you want or deserve. It’s about knowing that every year, it’s likely to end in heartbreak… until it doesn’t. So enjoy the ride, keep it civil and Go Cardinals!
