The Arizona Cardinals have made their first move to open up cap space for the 2018 NFL free agent period with the release of Adrian Peterson.
The Cardinals have been expected for a while to be making the move on Peterson, but it has finally come down.
With the release the Cardinals gain $2,881,250 according to Over The Cap. That will be just the first of many moves, but how many will result in actual cuts?
Peterson will be remembered for his work in two games in 2017:
vs Tampa Bay - 26 carries 134 yards 2 touchdowns
at San Francisco - 37 carries 159 yards
Those two games accounted for 293 of his 448 yards for the Arizona Cardinals, which unfortunately was good enough to lead the team in rushing for the season.
Peterson has some juice left, it just is not the same as it used to be.
Who knows, they haven’t shut the door on bringing him back and with Steve Wilks desire to be a punishing, run first football team, he may make a return.
If not, thanks for the memories, AD.
