The further into free agency you get, the more the price normally comes down, at least that’s what you would expect.
Yet, on day three of free agency, the Arizona Cardinals signed Justin Pugh to a huge five-year $45 million contract to address one of their biggest needs in the offseason. Already securing Sam Bradford to answer the quarterback problem.
Now, they are turning to their next big need, the cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson.
For now, they are looking outside of Tramon Williams at the cornerback position, bringing in E.J. Gaines for a visit.
Gaines played for the Buffalo Bills in 2017 under Sean McDermott… Who had a relationship with Steve Wilks and Al Holcomb. Meaning there is some insight into Gaines.
Gaines best season as a pro came playing outside for the Bills.
In 2017 Gaines allowed 38 catches on 60 targets for 307 yards and one touchdown and had one interception. Gaines had six passes defensed as well, allowing a 74.8 passer rating.
Gaines, a 25 year old four year pro, would be a young corner with experience in defensive scheme that Wilks and Holcomb like to run.
What would you think of Gaines?
