Revenge of the Birds user 2018 NFL Mock Draft: Indianapolis Colts are on the clock

The Colts traded down to the sixth pick and now will look to reap the benefits of whoever falls to them.

It is really interesting how the Revenge of the Birds 2018 NFL Mock Draft has unfolded. With our readers voting on the picks, the Colts had, what they would call the ideal scenario, unfold in front of them.

The picks:

  1. Cleveland Browns - Sam Darnold, QB, USC
  2. New York Giants - Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
  3. New York Jets - Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
  4. Cleveland Browns - Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
  5. Denver Broncos - Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming

That leaves the Colts, picking sixth with an absurd three second round picks (36, 37, and 49) with the best case scenario for them.

The Colts almost cannot lose unless only two quarterbacks go in the top five picks, but the best case would be four going and the Colts getting to pick between one of Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson, players they have already identified, on the record, as being their targets.

With the way the top five picks unfold in front of the Colts, they get Quenton Nelson or Bradley Chubb, but I am still putting it to a vote... Let’s not get too crazy though.

The Choices:

Quenton Nelson, OG, Notre Dame - Apparently one of three players the Colts want at six.

Bradley Chubb, DE, North Carolina St - This is an unbelievable break for the Colts if Chubb and Nelson are on the board at six. They get to pick either the best offensive or defensive lineman in the class. That’s really all it comes down to, protect Andrew Luck, or help a bad defense.

Derwin James, S, Florida State - They drafted Malik Hooker to be their free safety, how about adding the best safety in the class at the strong safety position? The physical, fast playmaker of James would give the Colts defense even more attitude moving forward.

Harold Landry, DE, Boston College - The more explosive defensive end prospect, Landry is a bit of a forgotten man. He was projected to be the top edge player in this draft before a down season, due to an ankle issue, has him looking like a mid first round pick.

Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State - The Colts need work in the secondary and Ward seems to be the consensus top cornerback.

Roquan Smith/Tremaine Edmunds - As the Colts move to a 43, they need to overhaul their linebcakers, either of the top linebackers would make sense.
