Arizona Cardinals get answer at QB in newest 2018 NFL Mock Draft

NFL: Combine Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

With the 2018 NFL Combine having come and gone, it’s time for more serious looks at the 2018 NFL Draft… from a mock draft standpoint.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report unleashed his first post combine mock draft of the 2018 off season.

How did it turn out for the Arizona Cardinals?

  1. Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
  2. Brian O’Neill, OT, Pittsburgh
  3. Nick Nelson, CB, Wisconsin
  4. DaeSean Hamilton, WR, Penn State
  5. Kendrick Norton, DL, Miami
  6. Chris Herndon, TE, Miami
  7. Jester Weah, WR, Pittsburgh

When you look at the positions taken, you see immediately that every need was hit.

They get their franchise quarterback in Baker Mayfield, they get athletic, nasty offensive lineman Brian O’Neill and then you round out day two with a physical corner in Nick Nelson and a big receiver in DaeSean Hamilton.

The back end of Miller’s picks give the Cardinals a space eater at defensive tackle, a Ricky Seals-Jones clone in Chris Herndon and a big wide receiver that can fly in Jester Weah.

The names still don’t mean a whole lot, but the positions all make sense.

When you tack the names on, you have to like, on paper some of the draft.

I’m not sure Nelson fits the Steve Wilks mold of defensive back, but he is physical so maybe.

Norton seems like a luxury type of pick and Herndon seems too similar to Seals-Jones.

What did you think of Miller’s draft for the Cardinals?
