While we wait on more from the Arizona Cardinals in free agency, hello cornerback and wide receiver positions, the rest of the NFL is also seemingly coming to a halt.

There’s a reason, money is now tight and teams and players are playing chicken with one another.

For instance, Brice Butler, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys, has taken a number of visits including meeting with the Arizona Cardinals today. However, we haven’t heard much in terms of financial investment from any team.

Why? Well Butler is trying to not only find the best fit, an opportunity to be more than a depth receiver, but also the most money.

That extends beyond Butler.

Field Yates is reporting that Arizona Cardinals free agent target Jordan Matthews is taking a visit with the New England Patriots, along with former Cardinal Troy Niklas.

The interesting thing about Matthews visiting the Pats is, the Cardinals have already made an offer to Matthews according to Rapoport:

So, is it the allure of going to and playing in New England with likely Super Bowl favorites in the Patriots or is it the money the Cardinals didn’t offer? Likely both, but we know that Matthews would be in Cardinals red had he gotten an offer he felt was fair, but that’s ambiguous:

Needless to say, the Cardinals are hoping that their offer is the best for Matthews and he comes back to the desert to sign.

Or else, it’s onto the next option, Brice Butler.
