The Arizona Cardinals have made another free agent move that we have been waiting for, bringing in former Cowboys and Raiders defensive end Benson Mayowa.

From the team:

Mayowa (6-3, 265) is a five-year NFL veteran who played the past two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and appeared in 27 games (eight starts) and collected seven sacks, 38 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He had a career-high six sacks in 2016 after starting a career-high six games that season. The 26-year old Mayowa entered the league with Seattle as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2013 out of Idaho. He played in two games with the Seahawks as a rookie before appearing in 28 games with Oakland over the following two seasons (2014-15).

In his career, Mayowa has played in 57 games (11 starts) and has 72 tackles, nine sacks, 12 tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.

Mayowa is a natural 4-3 defensive end and gives the Cardinals the insurance they need as Markus Golden looks to come back from a torn ACL.

This is also a great depth signing, as Mayowa is a consistent pass rushing threat off the edge as a rotational player, despite regressing in terms of pure stats in 2017.

It will be a one-year deal for the former Cowboy that could open up opportunities for him in the 2019 offseason.
