The Arizona Cardinals announced on Tuesday afternoon that they have come to terms with a quartet of their own exclusive rights free agents.
Included in the signings were cornerback C.J. Goodwin, who saw action in two games with the Arizona Cardinals last season. Goodwin is a special teams type, who has 13 tackles on teams in his career.
The team also brought back fan and AndyStandsUp favorite Elijhaa Penny. Penny had 124 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries as well as 38 receiving yards on four receptions, but like Goodwin, his biggest contribution is as a special teams player, where he recorded 11 tackles last season.
Olsen Pierre is the gem of this group, no disrespect to the other three players. Pierre played started seven games last season for the Cardinals and totaled 5.5 sacks and a forced fumble. His 5.5 sacks second on the team and his 10 tackles for loss were tied for second. Moving into the interior in Wilks 4-3 defense could make Pierre a potential breakout NFL star in 2018.
Finally, key offensive line backup and swingman John Wetzel is coming back. Wetzel started 11 games, four at left tackle and seven at right tackle.
Congrats on the contracts and good luck in this new era of Arizona Cardinals football.
