Arizona Cardinals have two key special teamers locked up, what about the kicking position?

What happens with the kicking position for the Arizona Cardinals in 2018?

Yesterday, the Cardinals made the move to extend Andy Lee, their veteran punter, through 2020.

This, paired with the long term contract long snapper Aaron Brewer is under, means two-thirds of the special teams core is under contract for the next three seasons.

That begs the question… What about Phil Dawson?

While extending Dawson would seem ludicrous at his, what about going the other direction and the potential of Dawson getting cut before the season?

We haven’t heard much about the kicking competition, and who knows maybe within the next couple of weeks the Arizona Cardinals cut Matt McCrane, but as of now he’s squarely in the thick of things.

The idea of going in with a rookie kicker, especially with the veterans of Lee and Brewer already in tow.

However, wouldn’t it be great to have the special teams core locked up, theoretically, through 2020?

It’s an underrated, yet interesting storyline to follow heading into training camp for the 2018 Arizona Cardinals.
