The impact the Arizona Cardinals have had on the valley and more notably the Glendale area cannot be understated.
A mostly destitute area, now home to one of the biggest and best stadiums in the country for the most popular sport in America, is not a bad way to change the perception and economy of a town.
For that reason and so much more, the Glendale City Council agreed to change the name of Bethany Home Road to Cardinals Way between 91st to 99th Avenues.
“Naming the road in front of the stadium, Cardinals Way, was something I wanted to do as a special way to recognize an organization that represents Glendale and Arizona in the very best ways,” Mayor Jerry Weiers said. “The Bidwill family has established a winning football tradition and a true spirit of community giving in Arizona. When visitors from all over the state, the U.S. and the world travel to the stadium, it is only fitting that they should be heading towards Cardinals Way.”
That is the biggest thing.
While the stadium in Glendale is home to the Arizona Cardinals and the NFL, it has drawn massive numbers for so much more: The stadium has already hosted two Super Bowls, the Pro Bowl, the NCAA Men’s Final Four, CONCACAF Gold Cup, WrestleMania, BCS and CFP National Championships in addition to a slew of major concerts. It will also host its third Super Bowl in 2023.
The legacy of Michael Bidwill and the Arizona Cardinals continues to grow.,
