While we work our way through the dregs of the offseason, where news about the Arizona Cardinals is hard to come by, you know it’s a long offseason when even the team Twitter account is getting into the absurdities.
That’s right, after EA released their Madden 19 grades for all players on all teams, the Arizona Cardinals took umbrage to the grading of one Chandler Jones:
Hey @EAMaddenNFL, somehow @ChanJones55 is an 89 in #Madden19.
— Arizona Cardinals (@AZCardinals) July 13, 2018
In case leading the league in sacks was not enough, we will let @PSchrags make the case. pic.twitter.com/VRhupZpJRB
Of course, as it is the offseason, this isn’t a big surprise, but what was a bit more surprising was the response from EA and the Madden team on Twitter:
Dear @AZCardinals,
— EA SPORTS Madden NFL (@EAMaddenNFL) July 13, 2018
We will be increasing @chanjones55's ratings...AND due to your creativity, we will also be looking into your team's OVR ⬆️⬆️
Yours truly,#Madden19
While this is all in fun and gest, it is interesting to see that the Madden team folded that quickly.
In reality, we as Cardinals fans know that Jones is pretty slept on amongst pundits, while his peers seem to acknowledge his place among the elite in the game as a pass rusher.
However, it is good to see the Madden team make a necessary correction.
And thus ends the Madden grading saga, which just shows how slow this time of year is.
