Arizona Cardinals offense looks ahead of defense early in camp

The Cardinals offense have questions on offense, but they've looked good early.

We’re three days into Arizona Cardinals camp 2018 and there hasn’t been much in the way of surprises yet.

While Trent Sherfield is turning heads, the wide receiver position was always wide open, we just hoped that someone that was “highly invested” in would be the one turning heads.

Yet, through three practices, no matter who I talk with that was in person or the reports that come out after practice, there is one thing I’ve noticed.

The offense is ahead of the defense so far.

That is a bit surprising when you consider the defense was going to be the strength of the Cardinals this season.

While it was only the first day of practice, the offense has set the tone early with a physical offensive line and a quick, accurate passing game.

You also have to take into consideration that the defense is learning.

This isn’t year four with James Bettcher, this is year one with Al Holcomb and a brand new defensive philosophy.

This is new in a number of ways and it will take some time.

Maybe that’s the most surprising thing overall. The Cardinals needing time on defense.

Yet, it shouldn’t be as surprising as it seems to be to many… myself included.
