Well, that was a bit of a waste of time.
I mean, it’s never a bad thing to win football games in the NFL, and the Arizona Cardinals have done that, pushing their preseason record to 3-0 without a 27-3 route of the Dallas Cowboys, but man, what a poorly played offensive game.
Tonight’s winners come almost exclusively from the defense and special teams for the Cardinals, but that’s what Steve Wilks wants from this team, so maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise.
Winners
Patrick Peterson - He looks extremely comfortable in the Cardinals new defensive scheme and something we haven’t seen lately, physical.
Vontarrius Dora - Dora is doing his best Cap Capi impersonation, finishing the night with three sacks, three quarterback hits and two tackles for a loss.
Budda Baker - Looked downright scary out there in coverage against a bad Cowboys second team offense.
Andy Lee - What a performance by the veteran punter. Lee may be one of Steve Keim’s best moves as GM.
Matt McCrane - Everyone seems to be writing off McCrane’s chances to make the final 53, but he sure as heck is making it a conversation. He’s 2-2 from 50+ in the preseason and hasn’t missed a kick so far.
T.J. Logan - The potential injury to D.J. Foster is sad, but Logan reminded everyone tonight just how explosive a playmaker he is.
Deone Bucannon - Looked pretty good for his first action of the preseason.
Losers
D.J. Humphries - A bad performance in pass pro, not what you want from the starting left tackle.
Andre Smith - This may be the worst signing of the offseason. Hopefully Smith’s play will pick up when he gets a full game.
Injuries - Let’s hope it’s nothing serious for Foster and Arthur Moats.
What’d you have?
