Week 13 College Football prospects to watch and open thread

Week 13 of the 2019 College Football season is here and the matchups are awful. I mean, really, really awful.

Despite it being nearly the last week of regular season play, there is only one matchup of top 25 teams.

It is going to be a loooong day.

However, we still need to keep an eye on a couple of games.

#9 Penn State at #2 Ohio State , 10am, Fox

The main name is obviously Chase Young. He is the best player in college football. If the Cardinals found a way to stumble into Young after getting Murray, give everyone a raise and medal.

More likely the Cardinals will be looking at players like cornerback Jeffrey Okudah or inside linebacker Malik Harrison. While both may seem redundant in terms of positions, they are both high end defenders who can make plays.

I am also keeping an eye on two day two offensive prospects. J.K. Dobbins is an elite runner who could be a great fit in Kingsbury’s offense if they do not keep Kenyan Drake. K.J. Hill had good speed coming out of high school with elite quickness and explosiveness. He is older and stronger now that he is the man for the Ohio State receiving corps. He may never be a number one, but he could be a really solid number two or three.

For Penn State, they have an intriguing edge rusher who I am watching for that 10-20 pick area. Yetur Gross-Matos is a long, linear edge player with alleged 4.52 speed. He has improved every year numbers wise and is the focal point of a talented Penn State defense.

There is only one other game I am watching with a discerning eye.

ASU has Brandon Aiyuk and people I trust are telling me he’s a day two guy without a doubt. Aiyuk is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands and can win from anywhere on the field.

However, I’ll be mostly Duck hunting today.

Calvin Throckmorton has been phenomenal his entire college career and has that long term right tackle size, speed and build. He looks like a guy that will anchor for years.

The Ducks are rich with offensive line talent, as not only is Throckmorton a top 40 guy, Shane Lemieux looks like a guy who is going to have a long term NFL career as well.

Then there is tight end Jacob Breeland, who is ready made for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

The Ducks are going to be fun to watch on offense today.
