Week 16 Arizona Cardinals rooting interest and open thread

It is the final two weeks of the 2019 regular season and there are a ton of games with meaning today.

However, what we care about are the games with meaning for the Arizona Cardinals, so let’s take a look at the rooting interest for the Cardinals today.

Jacksonville Jaguars (5-9) at Atlanta Falcons (5-9), 11:00 am Arizona time, Fox

Remember, a surprise win in the last two games means a big dropoff from a top six pick for the Cardinals. Yet, we want the Cardinals to win, so that means the teams below them need to win as well.

Enter this game of 5-9 teams. The Cardinals best bet for a week 17 win may be the Jags when they take on the Colts, so a Falcons win today would be key for the Cardinals to maintain their higher draft pick while we root for the Cardinals to win.

Pittsburgh Steelers (8-6) at New York Jets (5-9), 11 a.m., CBS

The Steelers need to lose this game. A Jets win would give the Cardinals a nice buffer heading into the final game. I think most fans on here like to root against the Steelers anyway.

Oakland Raiders (6-8) at Los Angeles Chargers (5-9), 2:05 p.m. Arizona time, CBS

This one is easy, the Raiders look like they are lost and the Chargers, despite their terrible season, are playing better. Go Chargers!

Detroit Lions (3-10-1) at Denver Broncos (5-9), 2:05 p.m. Arizona time, Fox

Another easy one, go Broncos!

If the Cardinals get wins from the Falcons, Jets, Chargers and Broncos, the Cardinals beat the Seahawks, you’re only talking one spot lost in the 2020 NFL Draft with a chance to make it up the next week.

Just like last week, a win would be great for the Cardinals team heading into the offseason and maybe not hurt them heading into it.
