Antoine Bethea heading to the New York Giants for a reunion with James Bettcher

When the Arizona Cardinals made the move to release Antoine Bethea it was not too much of a shock.

He was one of the bigger savings the Cardinals could make this offseason and the Cardinals were ready in house with D.J. Swearinger, who is a younger and better player at this stage of their respective careers.

Bethea was always going to get back into the game if he decided to keep playing, he is one of the most respected players in the NFL.

His landing spot makes a lot of sense too:

The Giants just lost Landon Collins, the leader of their defensive secondary, and need someone comfortable with James Bettcher’s defensive system.

Bethea brings experience, a leadership role and he is still a hell of a player on the field.

While he is not going to win with athleticism much anymore, he still gets the game better than almost anyone that the Giants could find and his comfort with Bettcher’s defense makes this a no brainer.

Good luck to Antoine in his next adventure.
