Zach Brown to be released by Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals should be in the market

NFL: Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

With the signing of Jordan Hicks and the presence of Haason Reddick already on the roster, the Arizona Cardinals look to be set at the linebacker position.

However, when you look at the play of Reddick, now in his third system in three seasons, and the injury history of Hicks, one season of 16 games played, the linebacking corps is anything but set.

Enter the Washington Redskins, who have been trying to trade talented linebacker Zach Brown for the last two days after they struck a mega-deal for Landon Collins.

Well, today it was reported that no deals were able to be made regarding Brown and the Skins will in fact release him.

Brown was in on 68% of the snaps for the Redskins in 2018, so his grade is a good indication of his ability.

Compare that with Haason Reddick, who was in on 76% of the Cardinals snaps and finsihed with a PFF grade in the low 60’s and it isn’t that you bring Brown in to start or play over Reddick, but you have him in the wings if you need to.

Bringing in a Brown would give the Cardinals insurance for not only Hicks, but make sure Reddick is finally allowed to be brought along without being thrust into the fire.

While it is not an immediate need, it would 100% give the Cardinals a better linebacker room and insure that they are ready heading into 2019.
