The #Cardinals are signing former #Chargers DT Darius Philon to a two-year, $10 million deal, sources tell me and @RapSheet. He gets $5M fully guaranteed. Max $12M with incentives.

This is a fantastic move by the Cardinals. Many of us were hoping for Darius Philon.
The defense is taking very good shape!
Stats last two seasons: 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss and 22 QB hits.
Philon is a young defensive linemen, something the Arizona Cardinals need to help out Corey Peters.
Philon’s strength along the line lies in his ability as not only a run stopper, but as someone who can play on passing downs and rush the passer.
The rub on Philon is that he isn’t a flashy player, but he is capable of flashy plays. From former contributor and now Czar of Niners Nation Kyle Posey:
Philon will flash every now and then but he’s doing the dirty work inside that is freeing up linebackers when he can’t finish himself.
This is the play from Darius Philon that I was referencing on the podcast, hard to play that any better pic.twitter.com/adYMShcVL4

While it is a two-year deal, it is the type of strong deal that allows teams to build around young players, like Philon, who could find himself as a core member of the Arizona Cardinals defense.
