Bubble time: Arizona Cardinals have a lot of veteran names at positions who could get caught in a numbers game

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals offseason has been a busy one.

They have added a number of players at positions of need, but done so while shopping in the bargain section of the store.

This makes sense for a team looking to rebuild coming off their worst season in franchise history.

Yet, there are some names we’ve grown accustomed to that could see their time in Arizona ending this year if the Cardinals continue to add to those positions in the 2019 NFL Draft.

What positions could see some names we know on the go?

Let’s take a look.

Wide Receiver

The Cardinals wide receiver corps is fairly bad at this juncture, and adding another in the draft almost seems too likely at this point.

Yet, who could be in danger of being cut if that was to happen?

The names that are locks on the roster at this point:

Larry Fitzgerald
Christian Kirk

From there the questions begin. Does Chad Williams get another season? Are Jalen Tolliver and Trent Sherfield and long term options. What do the Cardinals get out of former top ten pick Kevin White? What about Pharoh Cooper? Are Bryant Mitchell, Malachi Dupre and Damiere Byrd just offseason roster fillers?

The Cardinals will nedd 5-6 wide receivers, but the names are tough to filter out at this point.

Offensive Line

The starters seem locked in: D.J. Humphries, J.R Sweezy, Mason Cole, Justin Pugh, Marcus Gilbert.

The backups that seem like a lock: Max Garcia, Korey Cunningham

That is seven. If they are drafting at least one, that is eight, which means they need to find one or two more.

Names like A.Q. Shipley, Colby Gossett, John Wetzel and Will Holden are ones we are familiar with, but how many will be on the roster in 2019?

Two of the biggest need spots on the team, wide receiver and offensive line, are two spots where there are plenty of names we know, but may not see for much longer.
