With pick #254, the final pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cardinals have drafted Caleb Wilson, Tight End out of UCLA.
A highly productive receiver coming in at 6’4 1⁄4 and 240 lbs, Caleb Wilson was a walk-on at USC before transferring to UCLA and playing in 27 games before entering the draft after his senior season.
Per the team site:
“Led the team in receptions (60) and receiving yards (965), the highest totals ever by a Bruin tight end ... Finished the regular season leading the nation’s FBS tight ends in receptions per game (5.0), receiving yards per game (80.4) and total receiving yards (965) this season”
He notably ran in the 91st percentile among tight ends with a 40 yard dash timed at 4.56. Despite that, there are concerns with his overall athleticism.
Wilson figures to be a pass catching threat at the position, but will have to work to refine his routes and catching at the next level.
