Arizona Cardinals OTA’s remind us of the human aspect of the NFL

NFL: Arizona Cardinals-Rookie Minicamp Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Much ado about nothing, that is what the reports have been on the missing players as the Arizona Cardinals started their full team offseason workouts.

The four names that begin by missing part of OTA’s, Larry Fitzgerald, David Johnson, Terrell Suggs and Patrick Peterson, are integral pieces of the Cardinals puzzle.

However, three of the four are long time NFL veterans with Hall of Fame resumes. David Johnson’s wife had just had a baby.

There are things outside of football that matter just a little more.

Do I love these guys missing some time, Fitz and Johnson showed up on day two, no.

Does it matter? No.

That is the real crux of the situation. You have NFL players who have lives outside of the grind of football.

In fact, the four players who missed a part of the time of OTA’s, or all of the time, are players who have never missed games voluntarily. Who have racked up Pro Bowls and All Pro’s in an absurd fashion.

They are four great players.

They also happened to not show up for a voluntary team activity.

Life goes on.
