Twitter reminds us of the universal love of Larry Fitzgerald

Sometimes we take him for granted.

Larry Fitzgerald is and has been one of the most successful and unique players in NFL history.

He’s been someone other players around the league look to with appreciation and he is someone fans can gravitate towards as a player.

Then, to back all of that up, he is one of the most productive wide receivers in NFL history.

His greatness is unquestioned.

Which is why a thread on Twitter that took on quite a life last night was awesome to see and just reminded us how great Fitz is.

There are over 1,300 responses now but to see Fitz as the man to start the wave of players off, it is impressive.

No player that I can remember during his career is as universally loved and respected throughout the league.

Fans responses harken back to those lost, or all time greats, but few bring with them the love and respect of fans and non-fans alike.

I do think part of it for fans in San Francisco, Seattle and Los Angeles is that he’s been so great for so long with the Cardinals and they have not won a ton in that time, only two NFC West titles. That makes the hate that someone like Drew Brees or Peyton Manning draws for keeping other teams down.

I think that endears players like Calvin Johnson and Barry Sanders as well.

Who would you say?
