The Arizona Cardinals have had a rough go of it lately, but they still have quite a bit of talent on their roster.
Despite not having any players on the Pro Football Focus Top 50, they had three players make Pete Prisco of CBS Sports Top 100 NFL Players.
When you look at Prisco’s top 100, and where the Arizona Cardinals fall, it makes sense.
42. Patrick Peterson - He is suspended for the first six games, which means he can’t go to the Pro Bowl. But he’s still an outstanding cover player.
55. David Johnson - His numbers weren’t great last season, but there are reasons for it. I see him bouncing back in a big way, maybe even with a 1,000-1,000 season.
62. Chandler Jones - His ability to get to the quarterback will be key to the Cardinals’ defense going forward. He has 30 sacks the past two seasons.
I am actually surprised to see Peterson and Johnson as high as Prisco has them. Peterson being suspended for the first six games means he will only have ten games to prove himself in 2019. Yet, Prisco knows and understands the importance of coverage ability and weighs that heavily.
For Johnson, he has not been a top 55 player in two full seasons. So, Prisco is banking on Johnson and Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.
Jones I feel like continues to get overlooked, only 62nd seems low for a consistent force coming off the edge.
What do you think?
