With the offseason in full swing, much of the time on NFL Network is made up of listacles.
Yet, the NFL Network has done some innovative stuff in trying to create these list using current and former players ranking their peers.
Brandon Flowers, former Pro Bowl cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs and LA Chargers was on NFL Total Access giving his top five corners heading into the 2019 season.
His list was interesting and you can watch the video to see his reasoning:
5. Chris Harris Jr.
4. Jalen Ramsey
3. Patrick Peterson
2. Stephon Gilmore
1. Aqib Talib
Talib at one was a bit of a surprise, but he is highly respected amongst his cornerback peers. Gilmore had maybe the best season of any cornerback in the NFL in 2018, so his ranking makes sense.
What is always amazing is not where Patrick Peterson falls on these lists, it is that Peterson is always on these lists.
He has been a staple in all cornerback rankings since 2012, since after his rookie season was completed.
Flowers does a nice job of explaining why Peterson is on the list, despite the fact he’ll miss the first six games of 2019, and why he will continue to be on the lists.
What do you think of Flowers rankings and reasoning?
