The Arizona Cardinals continue to build their depth, today signing former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Matt Longacre to a one-year deal.
From the team:
Longacre (6-3, 265) played the past four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and appeared in 38 games (eight starts) and had 57 tackles (35 solo), 6.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble. The 27-year old Longacre entered the league with the Rams as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Northwest Missouri State in 2015. He had a career-high 5.5 sacks in 2017 and started a career-high seven games last season for the NFC Champion Rams. An Omaha, NE native, Longacre played in all three postseason games for the Rams last season, including Super Bowl LIII.
Longacre will wear jersey #49.
We’ve been wondering what the backup plan at linebacker was for the Arizona Cardinals behind Chandler Jones, Terrell Suggs and the currently PUP Brooks Reed. Is Longacre the answer? We’ll see, but he is a player with experience in the league and in the division.
Welcome to the team Matt.
The Cardinals now have one open spot on the roster.
