Things move quickly in the NFL.

After signing Matt Longacre before the start of training camp on July 24th, the Arizona Cardinals have released the outside linebacker.

From the team:

”The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has released linebacker MATT LONGACRE.”

Longacre signed with the Cardinals on July 24.”

These press releases are getting shorter and shorter.

Longacre’s release likely coincides with the return of Brooks Reed off the physically unable to perform list yesterday.

Now, the Cardinals, along with the release of Robert Nkemdiche, sit with three open roster spots.

The question becomes, how will the Arizona Cardinals fill those roster spots?

From a straight needs perspective, inside linebacker likely is the top need, with the injury to Haason Reddick.

Then depth and better talent really is the necessity at each and every position, so it’s hard to pinpoint what needs to happen.

Maybe outside of safety and wide receiver, the Cardinals could use a player at any position on the team.

Good luck to Matt in his next adventure in the NFL.
