The Arizona Cardinals played a putrid first quarter and then showed some signs of life in the second half.
It lead to some takes, we have many of them here.
It's the Tweetmath of the Arizona Cardinals 33-26 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Three straight drives the starting defense is gashed to begin preseason through two weeks

Less than optimal start defensively.
Defense is looking like it might be an issue this year..

Vance Joseph D making that look way too easy for the Raiders onnthe ground AND through the air...

Our D is not good #BirdGang

Get off the field, Cardinal D. Ain’t nobody here to see you.
— Johnny (@JohnnyTouchdown) August 16, 2019
That was the truth early. It's just preseason the defense is bad right now, blah, blah, blah.
Yet, Daniel Jeremiah has a sobering take.
I keep telling myself not to read into the preseason...BUT it’s hard to imagine this Cardinals defense being able to match the physicality vs NFC West offenses.

The quicker the defence let Oakland score, the quicker we get to see K1... #OAKvsAZ pic.twitter.com/AK1706CdDd

When Kliff’s offense uses 3 tight ends (huh) and then Kyler keeps it on a zone read old school and new school coordinators like: pic.twitter.com/MqCPIrwZtV

If you thought the scheme was going to be a magical salve for the oline...

AZ was in shotgun with 3 WRs and booger called it a heavy run formation.

Looking like another mute kinda year for MNF
I'm not a fan at all of the Monday Night Football crew. Thank goodness my favorite team isn't good enough to get on another broadcast.

Lol, that one got me.
What do the Cardinals’ defense this preseason and Alex Avila have in common? Neither can hit.

Good thing Mike Glennon is terrible. #MNF
— Dalai Llama (@VictoryLlama) August 16, 2019
The defense might start getting better once they aren’t playing Kliff’s offense every week. That’s all I’ve got cause despite Reddick/Alford being out don’t know if it’s really just a deficit of talent that Bowles’ scheme covered ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://t.co/23MpkUPxNa

There is no prohibition against clapping. You just can’t do anything abrupt to try and draw the defense offside. The action has to be smooth and deliberate. They are calling it very tight on him. I didn’t think what he was doing was abrupt.
— Dean Blandino (@DeanBlandino) August 16, 2019
This really irritated me and shows me the NFL continues to be stuck in their ways. The Arizona Cardinals have talked to the league about this and there's no clarity for the team. It makes things an issue.
For those of you panicking, this is what a rebuild looks like. This isn’t 2013 with Arians. The Cardinals were easily the worst team a year ago and are implementing their third system (on both sides) in three years. Give it time. #AZCardinals

Kyler has the arm and legs and poise to eventually be at least as good as Baker ... if he ever has half the talent around him Baker has now.

Cardinals did shuffle their second-unit offensive tackles tonight. Korey Cunningham is still at right tackle, but 2019 seventh-round pick Joshua Miles is at left tackle instead of Rees Odhiambo.
— Darren Urban (@Cardschatter) August 16, 2019
Miles didn't look abysmal. So that's a thing.
Damiere Byrd drops a Hundley pass that would've been a first down. Zane Gonzalez hits a field goal, and the Cardinals have pulled within 26-13, if you're still tracking the score.
— Darren Urban (@Cardschatter) August 16, 2019
Kyler Murray has a good head on his shoulders.

Kyler gave a nice, thoughtful interview on the sideline in this game.
