Player of the Game: Raiders at Cardinals

Boy, did I pick a bad night to do my first Player of the Game article. I could be waxing lyrical about electrifying rookie performances or any of the handful of All-Pro’s on the team or key roster battles...

Instead, I’m trying to decide between... the backup quarterback and the kicker. That’s not to disparage either individual or position, both are hugely important and both men showed their worth last night. Hell, Gonzalez was literally perfect on PAT’s and FG’s,

But I’m giving it to Brett Hundley this week. After multiple stalled drives by the first team, Hundley came out and got the chains moving - both in the air and on the ground. He put the first points on the board with this dime to Trent Sherfield down the sideline.

Hundley would finish the night going 10 of 15 for 139 passing yards and one TD. As I mentioned above, he also put in work on the ground, including a 15 yard scramble to keep the ball moving on the team’s second scoring drive.

I’ve mentioned so ad nauseum, but if Hundley can continue to build off of what he’s shown in the preseason, the Cardinals have a valuable asset and peace of mind... as much as one can have should they find themselves in an not ideal situation.
