While the Arizona Cardinals prepare for the Red and White Practice, they continue to make roster moves.
The team is signing veteran inside linebacker Hayes Pullard to a one-year contract.
Pullard is not being brought in, based on those I have spoken with, to compete with Dennis Gardeck or because of Gardeck’s play through the last week.
No, instead the career backup in Pullard is being brought in to take reps off of Gardeck over the next five weeks heading into the regular season.
It will allow Jordan Hicks and Gardeck to maintain as the teams starting inside linebacker duo, but allows for a more veteran presence immediately behind them.
When Haason Reddick gets back, Pullard basically becomes a depth and special teams guy if he stays on the roster.
Pullard is a four year veteran out of USC, who has spent two years with the Jacksonville Jaguars and two with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Pullard has started 12 games in his career, but appeared in 46. He is a key contributor on special teams and a nice rotational piece as a backup linebacker.
He has amassed 114 tackles and five tackles for loss in his career. He also has one career interception.
In addition to Pullard, the Arizona Cardinals have signed three additional players:
Former Kansas City Chiefs fourth round pick Parker Ehinger is an offensive lineman who has started five career NFL games, but ended two seasons on injured reserve.
Offensive lineman Patrick Lawrence is an undrafted rookie from Baylor.
Wide receiver Isaac Zico is an undrafted rookie from Purdue.
In addition, the Arizona Cardinals have released offensive lineman Tariq Cole and running back Xavier Turner
Welcome and good luck to all the new players.
