Arizona Cardinals release Andre Branch, Hayes Pullard and more, place Hakeem Butler on injured reserve

NFL: Preseason-Los Angeles Chargers at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

It was just weeks ago we took inventory of the Arizona Cardinals pass rush room and wondered where the cuts were going to come from.

Today, the team announced the release of two edge rushers, as the team begins to cut things down for the final 53.

From the team:

"The Arizona Cardinals Football Club today announced that the team has released linebackers Andre Branch, Jeff Holland and Hayes Pullard."

Branch was the big name, but Holland was someone they signed just a couple weeks ago.

The Pullard release gives you hope that the Cardinals are close to getting Haason Reddick back.

The team also announced they have placed rookie wide receiver Hakeem Butler and defensive back Josh Shaw on the injured reserve, meaning that Robert Alford could not end up on the IR, since they have not announced it quite yet.

We’ll see how this changes things moving forward, but now the Cardinals have five roster spots open. Will they fill all of them before the final preseason game, or will this be how they go into the season moving forward?

We shall see.
