When it was announced the Arizona Cardinals traded for Marcus Gilbert in March, the caveat was always heavy.

Walter:

Good solid RT when healthy—-but has only played in 12 games the past two seasons, due this past season to a knee injury and a suspension in 2017.

The Cardinals announced on Tuesday that Gilbert will be going on injured reserve without ever playing a regular season game with the Arizona Cardinals.

Last week, the Arizona Cardinals put Gilbert on the injury report with a knee issue.

For the Cardinals, it was ominous, and the end may have already come.

With Gilbert on IR, he is eligible to come back in eight weeks, so maybe game nine, but he has struggled to stay healthy the last several seasons.

Which was always the potential hangup with their late round pick trade for Gilbert.

Now, it is Justin Murray and Jordan Mills to man the right tackle position and hopefully continue to play well.

A speedy recovery to Marcus.
