It was the start so many wanted to see.

The Arizona Cardinals struggled in the first half on offense and on defense and trail the Detroit Lions 17-3 at the half.

It has made the old media excited to see a bad first half.

While it’s not the start most fans wanted to see, the Cardinals need to find a way to get out of their own way.

J.R. Sweezy got called for a holding call that negated a big run.

Kyler Murray made a terrible decision on a third and forever leading to an interception.

Meanwhile, the defense struggled as well. After success the first couple drives, the Cardinals looked lost, getting caught against Danny Amendola and Kenny Golladay napping.

The special teams, Trent Sherfield, made a great play to recover a muffed punt, but David Johnson failed to reach for the goal line on a first down run and then an interesting play call on second down led to an incompletion on third down.

Zane Gonzalez nailed the chip shot field goal.

It’s be an ugly first half. Let’s hope for a better start and end to the game.
