Mock Draft Monday: Arizona Cardinals get help for Kyler Murray

It is Monday and that means it is time for another 2020 NFL Mock Draft.

Today’s Mock Draft comes from Fox Sports Jason McIntyre.

McIntyre has some interesting words to start his mock though, saying that he feels like the first five picks are almost locked in.

It feels like the Top 5 players off the board are all locked in, and the draft will pivot on what happens with the Chargers.

The first five picks are bookend with quarterbacks, as they have the top seven going:

  1. Bengals - Joe Burrow
  2. Redskins - Chase Young
  3. Lions - Isaiah Simmons
  4. Giants - Jeffrey Okudah
  5. Dolphins - Tua Tagovailoa
  6. Chargers - Justin Herbert
  7. Panthers - Derrick Brown

That leaves every offensive line talent available for the Cardinals, but McIntyre has the Cardinals going a different route.

Arizona Cardinals — Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama (8)

2019 season stats: 77 receptions, 1,163 receiving yards, 10 receiving TDs

Several questions from readers about why I get offensive linemen for teams with young QBs (Browns, Jets, Dolphins) but not the Cardinals.

Pro Football Focus rated the Cardinals offensive line 22nd, and Kyler Murray was “at fault” for taking more sacks (23) than any other QB in the NFL. He’ll grow, and do so quicker with Jeudy, who I have as the best receiver in the draft.

This is one of the scenarios that makes sense. The Cardinals get to eight and all the offensive line talent is on the board and now you get the choice of the best player.

If it’s Jeudy, so be it.

If it’s CeeDee Lamb, Jedrick Willis, Andrew Thomas, A.J. Epenesa or whoever it may be, the Cardinals can go to whoever they want knowing they have the top options at a number of positions available.
