With the 2020 offseason almost ready to get underway, the question of who the Arizona Cardinals bring in is one that is being asked daily.
What if the Cardinals could only bring in one free agent?
What if it was only one player the Cardinals could add from the free agent pool in the NFL (not including their own), how would you go about it?
I think there are a number of impact players you can look at for the Cardinals and to me it needs to be a focus on the defensive side of the ball.
Chris Jones is one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, but his likely salary of nearly $20 million a season is tough to swallow.
Jadaveon Clowney, Shaquil Barrett, Dante Fowler Jr., and Markus Golden would be nice fits opposite of Chandler Jones.
Blake Martinez, Joe Schobert and Patrick Onwuasor are two inside backers who may be good Robins to Jordan Hicks Batman.
Even a Byron Jones or Justin Simmons would seem to be optimal additions.
However, to me the best fit for the Cardinals and the one free agent I would prioritize over all others is Cory Littleton.
Littleton is expected to command around $13 to $15 million a season and that would put the Cardinals inside backers at a huge salary combined, close to $25 million a season, but I think they offer a great yin and yang combination.
Hicks is quite the downhill, run stopper, while Littleton is a similar player to what the Cardinals had in Daryl Washington.
While it would be a risk, getting the linebackers right would help the defense and the depth in the draft along the defensive line would allow the Cardinals to add some players on day two and three to get their feet wet while the Cardinals count on their veterans for one more season.
Who would your pick be?
