Following the injury to Corey Peters, Cardinals hosting DT Domata Peko

Peko was productive in Denver under then head coach Vance Joseph.

The situation at defensive line has become dire for the Arizona Cardinals.

Following the news that veteran DT Corey Peters will end his season (Cardinal career?) on injured reserve, the team is wasting no time in attempting to fill the void.

Via multiple outlets, the Arizona Cardinals are currently hosting former Cincinnati Bengal and Denver Bronco DT Domata Peko.

Peko, a 14 year NFL veteran, was most recently with Baltimore a year ago in which he appeared in seven games for the top seeded Ravens.

Prior to that however, Peko was a key staple on a Denver Bronco defensive line (2017-2018) that was orchestrated by then head coach (and current Cardinal DC) Vance Joseph. Joseph’s familiarity with Peko could be the trump card when digging through the NFL free agent wire for defensive line help.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, any addition would likely be for after this week’s Thursday night matchup against divisional rival Seattle. The Cardinals recently announced that they will again be without starting DT Jordan Phillips, leaving their opening day defensive line group in shambles.

Expect the Cardinals to utilize a lot of two-man fronts against a Seattle team that has struggled to run the football effectively.
