The Arizona Cardinals have a special player in Kyler Murray.

His first season ends with him winning the 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

From the team:

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has been named the Associated Press 2019 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The announcement was made tonight at the NFL Honors awards show in Miami, site of Super Bowl LIV.

Murray becomes the third player in team history to be selected as the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year joining running back Ottis Anderson (1979) and wide receiver Anquan Boldin (2003).

Below are some of the key highlights from Murray’s record-setting rookie season:

  • Murray led all rookie quarterbacks with 3,722 passing yards and 544 rushing yards in 2019.
  • He established franchise rookie records for passing yards (3,772), touchdown passes (20), completions (349), pass attempts (542), completion percentage (64.4), passer rating (87.4), 300-yard games (5), rushing touchdowns (4), and games with multiple TD passes (8) in 2019.
  • Murray became the first rookie quarterback in the league to start all 16 games in the last three seasons (2017-19) and the first rookie quarterback in franchise history to start all 16 games in a season.
  • He became the sixth quarterback and just the second rookie (Cam Newton) in NFL history with at least 3,500 passing yards and 500 rushing yards in a season.
  • His 544 rushing yards are the most by a quarterback in Cardinals history and he became the first player in team history to throw 20+ touchdown passes and run for 4+ touchdowns in a season. Murray was the only quarterback in the NFL with 500+ pass attempts and 90+ rushing attempts in 2019.
  • Between Weeks 4-10, Murray set an NFL rookie record with 211 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, while his 349 completions in 2019 rank as the third-highest total in NFL history by a rookie.
  • In NFL history, only Andrew Luck (6 in 2012) had more 300-yard performances as a rookie than Murray (5).

Congratulations to Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals for a fantastic rookie season and for what is to come.
