It is Friday one and all, we have made it.
As we continue to traverse through the 2020 offseason and get ready for the 2020 NFL Combine (prop bets dropped yesterday and Justin is giddy with excitement) we get another 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
Today it comes from NFL writer Will Brinson from CBS Sports and shows that everybody is just out having fun.
From Brinson:
8. Arizona Cardinals - Mekhi Becton, OL — Louisville
It’s paramount for the Cardinals to improve protection up front for Kyler Murray. Becton, a massive mountain of a man, can improve the screen game on the second level for Arizona while beefing up their pass protection.
Let’s go through the top seven so we can paint this damn picture:
- Bengals — Joe Burrow
- Redskins — Chase Young
- Lions — Jeffrey Okudah
- Giants — Jedrick Wills Jr.
- Dolphins — Tua Tagovailoa
- Chargers — Justin Herbert
- Panthers — Isaiah Simmons
Painting the picture is important because Becton, the Cardinals pick is the second offensive linemen off the board, but on CBS Sports they have him as the fourth best tackle, after Wills, Andrew Thomas and Tristan Wirfs.
However, they (CBS Sports) have Becton as the 16th best prospect in the draft.
The top five prospects according to CBS went in the top seven, meaning there are these prospects available before should have been off the board:
6. Derrick Brown
7. Javon Kinlaw
8. CeeDee Lamb
9. Wills selected by Giants
10. Andrew Thomas
11. Jerry Jeudy
12. A.J. Epenesa
13. Tristan Wirfs
14. K’Lavon Chaisson, Edge
15. Xavier McKinney, S
Chaisson and McKinney are the only two players you can not make a strong case to draft over Becton because of positional need right now.
How you get to Becton over these other guys makes no sense to me.
I always say pay attention to the position, not the player, but this is a bit weird.
