Pro Football Focus has their top 50 free agents heading into the 2020 offseason.
The Arizona Cardinals are not featured in it at all. Our own Walter Mitchell took a look at some contracts that should interest the Cardinals based on what the guys at PFF think.
However, I wanted to look at what PFF did to improve or at least keep the talent in the NFC West.
Again, the Cardinals do nothing within the PFF Top 50, but the NFC West is certainly active.
Let’s take a look.
16. LB CORY LITTLETON – LOS ANGELES RAMS
Projected contract: 4 years, $12 million per year ($30 million guaranteed)
46. T ANDREW WHITWORTH – LOS ANGELES RAMS
Projected contract: 1 year, $11 million ($10 million guaranteed)
The Rams have two top 50 free agents, and retain both. Not sure if that’s good or bad, but it’s the same.
28. EDGE ARIK ARMSTEAD – SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Projected contract: 5 years, $17 million per year ($45 million guaranteed)
36. S JIMMIE WARD – SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Projected contract: 2 years, $8 million per year ($6 million guaranteed)
27. WR EMMANUEL SANDERS – NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
Projected contract: 3 years, $10 million per year ($23 million guaranteed)
The 49ers keep their defense intact, but lose their best wide receiver (their best offensive weapon is George Kittle). I think the loss of Sanders would be tough for the 49ers.
13. EDGE JADEVEON CLOWNEY – SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Projected contract: 5 years, $21 million per year ($66 million guaranteed)
32. DI D.J. READER – SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Projected contract: 4 years, $13.5 million per year ($28.5 million guaranteed)
It’s amazing that the Seahawks retain the top edge player and somehow get the best interior guy not named Chris Jones.
The status quo for the Rams, a major loss for the 49ers and a huge upgrade for the Seahawks.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are not doing much according to PFF.
Let’s hope this is not close at all to what happens.
