The Arizona Cardinals are sitting with the eighth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

That seems like a fine spot and we have seen a number of mock drafts presenting different scenarios for the Cardinals getting different prospects.

Those scenarios have included wide receiver, offensive tackle and defensive tackle as the pick.

Well, in NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks second 2020 NFL Mock Draft, he has the Arizona Cardinals taking another offensive tackle and in turn bypassing what would be an almost slam dunk pick at eight.

From Brooks:

8. Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa - Jr.

Upgrading the protection around Kyler Murray is a top priority for the Cardinals.

This is something we have seen quite a few times, but there is a caveat that unless you go through the first seven picks in most drafts we have not seen before.

  1. Joe Burrow
  2. Chase Young
  3. Isaiah Simmons
  4. Jedrick Willis
  5. Tua Tagovailoa
  6. Justin Herbert
  7. Derrick Brown

The name missing from this group, one that is almost unanimously going in the top five is Jeffrey Okudah.

Okudah garnered a Patrick Peterson comparison in his NFL.com profile and yet the Cardinals pass.

While nothing in life is a guarantee if the draft unfolded this way I would bet with certainty that Okudah would be the pick at eight.

That’s not a slight at Wirfs, who is a talent in his own right, but Okudah plays an infinitely more difficult position to find talent at than Wirfs does.

In fact, there is only one player I would bet the Cardinals would take over Okudah in this draft and they have roughly zero chance to draft him... Chase Young.

If the 2020 NFL Draft fell this way, I think the Cardinals would take Okudah and never look back.
