For the Arizona Cardinals the offseason has been fruitful in creating an opportunity and change for their needs in the 2020 NFL Draft.
In fact, their offseason has gone so far as to make it where there are no glaring, must have pick needs with their first round pick.
They sit with the eighth pick in the draft and sit completely free to go about their business any way they see fit.
Fox Sports Jason McIntyre has decided that the best fit now at eight is similar to the same one they had before.
8. Arizona Cardinals — Jedrick Wills, OT Alabama (8)
Anyone that had slated a receiver to the Cardinals here can forget it. The addition of DeAndre Hopkins — a heist of a deal with Houston – makes Arizona playoff contenders in the NFC. Next order of business is to protect Kyler Murray.
McIntyre’s first seven picks went:
- Joe Burrow
- Chase Young
- Jeff Okudah
- Tristan Wirfs
- Justin Herbert
- Tua Tagovailoa
- Isaiah Simmons
Wills makes sense, especially if the top seven go this way. It would be the least sexy of picks, but it could end up being the best fit for the team in the long run.
The only two players you could bring up here that have not been discussed much are Javon Kinlaw and Kenneth Murray, but both would be similar to Wills.
They would all battle for starting time over incumbent starters, Wills with Justin Murray, Kinlaw with Zach Allen and Murray with the newly signed De’Vondre Campbell.
What do you think of the Wills pick?
