Happy Monday one and all.
We are not back to normal, not in the slightest, but we are going to try and keep things as normal as possible around here.
That means it is time for a 2020 NFL Mock Draft.
Today’s is post free agency and has the Arizona Cardinals reaping the benefits of some interesting decisions by the mock drafter.
Lance Zierlein’s 2020 NFL Mock Draft 2.0.
8. Arizona Cardinals - Isaiah Simmons
School: Clemson | Year: Junior (RS)
The guess here is that Arizona won’t be expecting to see Simmons on the board, but if he is, he may be too enticing to pass up. Plugging in an OT here is an easy move, but Tristan Wirfs doesn’t offer the same potential impact as Simmons.
Simmons would be a nice addition to the Arizona Cardinals defense.
He would give the Cardinals some flexibility with Budda Baker, Jordan Hicks, Jalen Thompson and the newly signed De’Vondre Campbell. In fact, Simmons would be able to work into most, if not all of those spots.
Simmons profiles into a Derwin James/Kam Chancellor type of role, where he’s playing in the box, but can play slot coverage, and rush the passer as a blitzer or straight off the edge.
Simmons can be a Swiss Army Knife, but the question is can Vance Joseph utilize him in that manner?
It’s a great pick, if the Cardinals let him play. As soon as you anchor Simmons at inside linebacker, you’re wasting the pick and the talent.
