As the 2020 NFL Free Agency period continues the 2020 NFL Draft creeps closer and closer. We are seeing how NFL Draft predictions are changing as well.
The thing with the Arizona Cardinals is not much has changed for those making predictions outside of CeeDee Lamb is not being seen as much (Not yet at least... hint!)
Today, Mel Kiper Jr. dropped his 2020 NFL Mock Draft 3.0 and has the Cardinals taking a familiar name:
8. Arizona Cardinals
Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
With DeAndre Hopkins on his way to Arizona, the Cardinals filled their need for a new No. 1 wide receiver. One spot they haven’t addressed? Right tackle, where they could upgrade on former undrafted free agent Justin Murray, who started 12 games last season. This team could have its pick of a deep top tier of tackles, but I like the fit with Wirfs, who was predominantly a right tackle in college. He’s a load in the run game and has great feet in pass protection. Arizona must protect quarterback Kyler Murray, who was sacked 48 times last season, tied for most in the league.
Quite an easy pick to be made here when you look at the top seven:
- Joe Burrow
- Chase Young
- Jeffrey Okudah
- Isaiah Simmons
- Tua Tagovailoa
- Justin Herbert
- Derrick Brown
That leaves the Cardinals with Wirfs, Jedrick Wills Jr. and Javon Kinlaw as the top names on the board unless you like Mekhi Becton.
Kinlaw could be interesting to follow. No workouts, two injuries, but he was a consistent force. However, can weight concerns (coming out of JC) and injuries be overlooked at eight?
What would you do at eight in this scenario if you are the Arizona Cardinals?
Editor’s Note:
Kiper has mocked Wirfs in every mock this year
