It is Friday which means another mock draft to review for the Arizona Cardinals.
This one is from longtime veteran NFL writer John Clayton, who is writing some at the Washington Post.
He has the Cardinals going with a bookend to D.J. Humphries for what could be a long-term fix.
8. Arizona Cardinals: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
I thought Wirfs made sense for the Cardinals at this spot even before they dealt their second-round pick as part of the blockbuster trade for star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, and it’s an even better fit now. Wirfs could give Arizona an athletic bookend opposite left tackle D.J. Humphries to protect last year’s top overall pick, quarterback Kyler Murray.
Wirfs is one of the names being bandied about quite a bit in the 2020 NFL Draft world and it makes sense.
Although the Cardinals have plenty of bodies invested along the offensive line, Wirfs would give them a young player that can fit at any position outside of center in the Cardinals offense.
The question becomes is where would Wirfs be most effective and if Wirfs will beat out Justin Murray, Marcus Gilbert or J.R. Sweezy?
What would you think?
