The Arizona Cardinals exclusive rights tendered Justin Murray last week, today the young right tackle signed that tender with the team.

From the team:

Murray (6-5, 315) played in a career-high 14 games with 12 starts at right tackle last season with the Cardinals after being claimed off waivers from the Raiders on September 1. He helped the Cardinals offense finish the season with the NFL’s 10th-ranked rushing offense (1,990 yards) that averaged a single-season franchise-record 5.03 yards per carry (second in the league).

The 26-year old Murray entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with Denver in 2016 out of the University of Cincinnati and has spent time on the active rosters of the Bengals and Raiders in addition to the practice squads of the Broncos, Buccaneers, and Saints during his career.

Murray had a career defining season in 2019 and has earned the right to continue to fight for the right tackle job with the Arizona Cardinals.

Murray along with veteran Marcus Gilbert are likely the two best bets to start the 2020 NFL season at right tackle for the Cardinals.

With the NFL offseason workouts up in the air, veterans with time in the system are more important than ever.

Murray is young enough to prove himself one more year and then the Cardinals can decide if he is the long-term answer at the right tackle position, but his work in 2019 definitely showed he deserved this chance.
