With two fourth round picks, a sixth and a seventh round pick for the 2020 NFL Draft the Arizona Cardinals have some work to do on day three.

They’ve looked at a number of talented prospects that have solid if unspectacular profiles on day three, with good careers at big schools.

One such players is Josh Metellus of Michigan.

A three-year starter on the Wolverines defense Metellus is a talented athlete who out tested what many expected of him at the combine.

Yet, Metellus’ testing numbers are not something you see consistently on the field as he is a good, but not great athlete who is savvy.

He understands his assignment and how to make plays on defense in the box and coming down hill.

He was very good in coverage near the line of scrimmage not just in zone, but in man coverage.

His high end projection is that of a Von Bell, who has had a nice career with the New Orleans Saints.

That’s obviously the best case scenario for Metellus who is a likely day three pick.

Low end projection for Metellus is someone like Dezmen Southward who was a day two pick for the Atlanta Falcons who never made it.

Metellus would have to find his way on special teams, but his smarts and understanding of defenses makes him a name to know on day three.
