BIO:
Name: Denzel Mims
Age: 22 (Senior)
Attended: Baylor University (#5)
COMBINE MEASUREMENTS AND TESTING:
Height: 6’3”
Weight: 207 lbs.
Arm Length: 33 7/8”
Hand Size: 9 3/8”
40 Yard Dash: 4.38 seconds
Bench Press: 16 reps
Vertical Jump: 38.5”
Broad Jump: 131”
3 Cone Drill: 6.66 seconds
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.43 seconds
STRENGTHS:
Outstanding at jump balls and contested catch situations. Natural at bringing in over the shoulder catches. Has the feet to work the sideline well and keep control in those tight windows. Competitive blocker, latches onto defenders and maintains control. Has experience in the slot, but best utilized in a perimeter role where his traits can shine.
CONCERNS:
Ran a limited route tree in the Baylor offense. Despite testing well at the combine, that athleticism is not always apparent on the field. Has work to do to maximize consistency with the ball in his hand.
SUMMARY:
Arguably did the most of any prospect over the course of the off-season to boost his stock, but there’s work to be done in rounding out his mechanics and fine tuning to fully maximize his athleticism. Despite that, Mims has an appealing toolset that will leave him well suited to an outside role and red zone weapon.
