Well, that was quite the wait.
The Arizona Cardinals have now made five picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, with Evan Weaver, a linebacker out of Cal being their sixth round pick, the 202nd overall.
Weaver is a four-year player out of Cal that was a tackling machine.
He has limited athleticism which is why he is available this late in the 2020 NFL Draft, as his production would suggest he was a better prospect.
For the Cardinals, Weaver would be a nice backup and special teams option with great understanding of how the position is played at linebacker.
Weaver actually grades out similarly to recent free agent linebacker who Cardinals fans had some interest in, Nick Kwiatkoski.
That would obviously be the high end of his outcome range, but he looks like the type of prospect who an have a nice career as a special teamer and backup linebacker in the NFL.
Welcome aboard, Evan.
