As the names for the Arizona Cardinals continue to leak out about who they are meeting with or who they have met with (mostly virtual at this point) we’ll renew our look at the prospects.
One name that has been talked about is that of Leki Fotu, the massive defensive tackle from Utah.
When you look at the numbers Fotu he has good athleticism for his size, measuring in at 6-5 330lbs at the combine, with long arms.
He was an anchor in the middle of a dominant Utah defense and played quite a bit over his four seasons with the Utes.
Crunching down the numbers Fotu’s range of outcomes seems wide and with the way the game has transformed, interior defensive guys are not premium picks if they don’t rush the passer consistently.
Fotu’s high end comparison would be former Jacksonville Jaguars interior defensive lineman Marcus Stroud. On the low end side of things he compares to former Kansas City Chiefs second round pick Junior Siavii.
That’s why Fotu is such an interesting prospect. He had only four sacks in his college but finished with 17.5 tackles for loss in his four seasons. He’s not a guy who will play or be expected to play more than 50% of the snaps. But, he has the ability to create problems in those snaps.
What would you think of Fotu with the 72nd pick?
