Wow.

That’s all you can really say about the breaking news that came down today.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a massive new contract that will set the precedent for future quarterback salaries.

It is in addition to two years left on his current contract, so Mahomes will have a 12-year deal with the Chiefs.

This is an amazing contract to see come to fruition and basically sets a standard for the next generation of quarterbacks in the NFL.

It also validates the decision Kyler Murray made in choosing football over baseball.

If Murray makes the leap, he’ll be in line for a contract that maybe won’t be as big as Mahomes, of course it’ll be 3-4 years down the line, so it may be even more.

Mahomes has reset the salary market.

Kyler Murray will be hoping to cash in soon and the Arizona Cardinals will be happy to pay the price if they are where the Chiefs are right now.
