Last season the Arizona Cardinals felt like they struck gold in the 2019 NFL Draft.
So far, Kyler Murray has been everything they had hoped for and more, but the rest of the class has some things to be desired.
One of the favorites amongst fans and analysts was Zach Allen.
The 6-4 285lbs Allen seemed primed to be a rotational player in the Arizona Cardinals revamped 34 defense under newly hired Vance Joseph and was before his injury.
Now, with the signing of Jordan Phillips and the drafting of Leki Fotu and Rashard Lawrence has made everyone forget about Allen.
Yet the Arizona Cardinals have not and they are excited about his chances to make an impact in year two.
For those that forget, our own Walter Mitchell talked about Allen glowingly last year and had this summation:
“One other thing of note---Boston College rarely if ever took Zach Allen off the field. In the case of Harold Landry, they used him in a strict rotation, playing him about 2/3 of the defensive snaps.”
“Allen not only has a relentless motor, his stamina is off the charts.”
“I believe that as soon as Zach Allen assimilates into Vance Jospeph’s defense, he will be the starter for the Cardinals at LDE or RDE in their 34 base. Plus, he will have a versatile role in the nickel, both as an inside and edge rusher.”
It’s easy to forget when a third rounder gets injured, but Allen has the game and the ability to make an impact.
Lets get excited.
